Hannah The Mother Hen

Lately some things have been going on with people in my life that is really bringing out the Mother Hen in me.
Yes, I have a tendency to become a metaphorical giant mother hen when things happen/happen to people I love. I think this happens to just about everyone at some time or another.
It's like, sometimes I just want to gather all of the people I love and care about in my metaphorical wing and make sure nothing bad happens to them, ever.

I've definitely been learning lately that you can't try and protect everyone like that.
You have to stop trying to fix everything that's going on, and trying to protect everyone etc. and let God handle it, because alot of times you can't do anything by your own power anyway. Trust me I know what its like to worry about people, and situations, and what ifs. I know from experience that its sometimes its hard NOT to be a mother hen about things, but when you feel yourself going in to "MH mode", just stop and say: God, I trust you to handle this. I trust you to take care of __________, whatever happens.

That's is what I've been learning and thinking about this week: letting go, and letting God.
I can't make everyone I love safe, or fix all their problems; but I can trust God to take care of them, no matter what happens (good OR bad).

Its like that song I used to sing in Sunday school when I was little:
"He's got the whole world in his hands."
That includes your family, your friends, everything you care about here on earth, even your pets.
He has it all in his hands, and his hands are much, much bigger than yours.
God's got a "hand"le on whatever happens in your life, big or small.
All you have to do is stop being that big mother hen, and trust in Him instead.
:)

(Now don't get me wrong, I'm going to protect my "chicks" from cats out to get them like Tom (metaphorical: see below) but you can't worry about everything, and you have to realize that you aren't always going to be there, and you can't fix/handle everything. That's where God comes in.)
