CVS Haul - The Math

Here's a more detailed description of my last trip to CVS.
First of all, I think that one of the keys of shopping at CVS is to break up your transactions, that way you can make the absolute best use of the extra care bucks you receive.
A lot of times you can take the ECBs from your first purchase and use those to pay for your second purchase.
I find that thats just about the easiest way to do it, if you can.

For my first transaction:
1 GE Energy Smart lightbulb - on clearance for 1.99 - used a 3.00 off coupon.
=FREE w coupon
2 Sunkist 2liters - sale - 88 cents
=1.76
2 Soft Soap Hand Renew Soaps - sale 2.00e - used 2 $1 off coupons (printable)
=$2
1 Softsoap Shea Butter Body Wash - sale - 3.00
SOFTSOAP ECB DEAL - Get 3 ECB's when you buy 3 Soft Soap, Mennen, or Irish Spring products.

2 Crest 3D White Toothpaste - sale - 2.99e - used 2 75cent off coupons
= 4.48
CREST ECB DEAL - Get 2 ECB's with purchase of select Crest Pro Health and 3D White ( I got a total of 4 ECB's since I got the household limit of 2 toothpaste's per deal)

1 18 count Kotex U Pads - sale - 3.49 - used a $1 coupon
=2.49
KOTEX U ECB DEAL - Get 2 ECB's

1 Bengay Vanishing Cream - 6.29 - used  $5 off coupon
= 1.29
BENGAY ECB DEAL - Get 2 ECBs with a Bengay Purchase or Tylenon Precise

Subtotal: 15.02

ECBs used from last week: $6

Total Paid: 10.78 (with tax)

ECB's Received: $11
(Basically made 22 cents)

2nd Transaction!

2 Skintimate Shave Creams - 2.19e - I used a 75 cent off coupon and a 55 cent off coupon
= $3.08

2 Schick Extreme 3 Disposable Razors 4 pack - 9.29 e - used a buy one get one free coupon and a $2 off CVS coupon
7.29
PLAYTEX AND SCHICK ECB DEAL - get $10 ECB when you guy $20 worth of product

Subtotal= 10.37

Used $11 ECBs from 1st transaction
Tax =1.61

Paid: 1.61 - just tax!
ECB's Received: $10
(Basically Made $8.39)

I could have kicked myself though. I realized once I left the store that I had another $4 off a $20 or more purchase, which I forgot to use(I had 2 total). That would have let me free up some ECBs from the first purchase. Silly me!)

3rd Transaction

2 Arm & Hammer Detergent - 2/$7 - used $1 off 2 coupon
= 6.00

4 Herbal Essence Shampoo's - sale - 2/4.97
=9.94
(I KNOW, there were $1 off aussie and herbal essence shampoo coupons but I used mine all up on the last deal. GRRR! I missed out. It would have brought my total down by $4 if I would have had them. What. A Bummer.)
4 Aussie Hair Styling Products - 2/4.97 used 4 $3 off a aussie or herbal essence styler with the purchase of a shampoo, coupons
=-2.06
SHAMPOO AND STYLING PRODUCTS COMBINED PRICE
= $7.88

1 Wonka Candy Mix
= 4.99

2 Poland Spring Water - no sale - 3.78

CVS COUPON USED - $4 off $20 purchase or more

SUBTOTAL: 19.17

ECB's used from Previous Purchase: $10

TOTAL (with tax) $11.00

PLUS I RECEIVED THE $10 Gas Card
(so basically I was out $1)

4rth Transaction - made at another CVS store

2 Neutrogena Facial Bar - 2.99e
= 5.98

Neutrogena ECB Deal - Buy 2 Facial Cleanse items get $5 ECB

Kotex ECB Deal listed above

Subtotal 6.97

ECB's used from last week - $3

Total with tax - 4.64

ECB's Recieved - $6
(Basically made $1.36)

6th Transaction - donation card

2 Herbal Essence Shampoo's 2/4.97
=4.97

Subtotal: 4.97

ECB's from previous purchase - $4.00
Total plus tax 1.32

I left with $2 ECBs for the Donation Card and $5 ECBs on my family card

All in all. I made money from my CVS trip.

* I know that this is probably not the best combo's for the deals this week, plus I forgot a coupon (Doh!) but hey, we live and learn, right?
We can't be perfect little couponers ALL the time.
:D

Hi Hannah,

Whoa, this is some impressive saving you've made. Aussie stores don't have discounts on quite this level, I don't think.

I do love freebies and competitions, though.

Anyway, I'm your newest follower from the Follow Us Monday Morning blog hop. Would love a follow back at:

Have a great week. : )
